Expectations for Performances

The choir is an ambassador of the school it represents. Therefore, each and every choir member is expected to exemplify excellent behavior both at school and away from school, during rehearsals/class, in concerts and on trips.

Performance Policies and Procedures

  1. This is a performance class; therefore, participation in concerts is mandatory for all students. In the event of extenuating circumstances, contact Mrs. Solverud PRIOR to the concert.
  2. Students are expected to attend the entire performance and display appropriate concert etiquette at all times.
  3. Students will sit with their ensemble during the concert while other groups are performing and are expected to stay for the entire concert.

Excused Absence From Performance

  • Serious Illness - The student’s parent/guardian must contact Mrs. Solverud prior to the concert regarding his/her condition. Any student who has been absent from school the day of a morning rehearsal or performance will be excused. In this situation, no other notification is necessary, but a phone call would be appreciated. The student will be expected to do extra credit work to make up the absence.
  • Religious Conflict - The student’s parent/guardian must contact Mrs. Solverud at least one week prior to the conflicting scheduled religious activity. The student will be expected to do extra credit work to make up the absence.
  • Other Circumstances - The student’s parent/guardian must contact Mrs. Solverud at least one week in advance. The student may or may not be excused, at the teacher’s discretion. If unexcused, the student will be expected to do extra credit work to make up the absence.
